For you "savvy" tourists looking for a different way to explore Alaska, let's hit the railways!! It seems there is a greater demand these days for rail travel than ever before. To cater to that demand, Alaska Railroad has expanded their package options to include not only rail, but hotels and a variety of tour choices to fit each traveler's needs. Alaska Railroad added two new double-deck dome cars to their fleet in May 2005 and two more this year. Since there is such a high demand for this new service, Alaska Railroad has purchased yet another two of the $4 million luxury dome cars for 2008. Among the new package options will be a 12-day, 12-night tour from the Arctic Circle to the seaport town of Seward. The package also incorporates exclusive experiences in the Denali backcountry, remote fly-in lodges and the Kenai Peninsula. It also includes accommodations, gourmet dining, helicopter-accessed guided fishing and hiking options. Sounds like a must-do to me!!! For more information contact Alaska Railroad on their website or call (800)321-6518 or your travel agent.
